Summer 101 — Be Consistent

I think a lot of runners are looking for a secret bullet in training, but the truth is that the only secret they need to learn is consistency.

The summer is a great opportunity for runners to put in uninterrupted, consistent work. You don’t need to do anything fancy in the summer…typically the runners who emerge in the fall as District or Conference Champions, State or National Qualifiers, etc., are the runners who put in the most days of work in the summer.

Remember, this sport is simple, you stack enough days on top of days and eventually you will run faster.

You want to have a great fall season? Be consistent in the summer.
