Learning From the Greats — Steve Jones

“If I am still standing at the end of the race, hit me with a board and knock me down, because that means I didn’t run hard enough.”

— Steve Jones (Jonesy)

I was lucky enough to be coached by Steve Jones in the fall of 2014. He was as hard and as rough around the edges as you would think a guy who says the quote above might be. While he wasn’t scientific about his coaching and he didn’t really teach me anything of great importance with regards to training…but boy, did he sure teach me how to be tough.

Sometimes we get caught up in the minutia of training and running…but the truth is…the toughest people still win the most. Sometimes you just have to be that man or woman who goes out and races hard.
